Living Things and Non-living Things

Once upon a time, there was a little girl named Nikki who loved to explore the world around her. She was curious about everything and always asked questions. One day, she decided to visit a botanical garden, where she saw many beautiful flowers, plants, and animals.

She ran around the garden, smelling the roses, touching the leaves, and watching the butterflies. She was having so much fun that she didn’t notice a small fairy hiding behind a sunflower. The fairy was also curious about Nikki and wanted to talk to her. She flew out from behind the sunflower and said hello.

Nikki was surprised to see the fairy, but she was not afraid. She smiled and said hello back. The fairy introduced herself as Pari and asked Nikki if she wanted to play with her. Nikki agreed and they became friends.

Pari told Nikki that she was a magic fairy who could make things grow and change in the garden. She showed Nikki how she could make a flower bloom, a seed sprout, and a caterpillar turn into a butterfly. Nikki was amazed by Pari’s magic and asked her how she did it.

Pari explained that she used her magic wand to give life to things in the garden. She said that life was a special force that made things grow, move, breathe, and feel. She said that living things were different from non-living things because they had life.

Nikki asked Pari what were some examples of living things and non-living things in the garden. Pari pointed to the flowers, plants, and animals and said that they were living things because they had life. She said that they needed water, sunlight, air, and food to survive. She said that they could also grow, change, reproduce, and respond to their environment.

Nikki then pointed to the rocks, soil, water, and air and asked if they were non-living things. Pari nodded and said that they were non-living things because they did not have life. She said that they did not need anything to survive. She said that they could not grow, change, reproduce, or respond to their environment.

Nikki understood the difference between living things and non-living things in the garden. She thanked Pari for teaching her something new and asked if she could come back again. Pari agreed and said that she would love to see Nikki again. They hugged each other and said goodbye.

Nikki ran back to her house, happy and excited. She told her father everything that happened in the garden and what she learned from Pari. Her father smiled and hugged her. He said that he was proud of Nikki for being such a smart and adventurous girl.
