Reading the Time from a Wall Clock

Once upon a time, there lived a little girl named Nikki. Nikki loved to explore and learn new things every day.During the summer vacation, she went to her village. One sunny afternoon, while playing in her backyard, she noticed a big clock hanging on the wall. The clock had beautiful colorful numbers and long, moving hands.

Curiosity sparked in Nikki’s eyes as she realized she didn’t know how to tell the time. She wanted to understand the secret behind the clock’s hands and numbers. So, she ran inside and asked her father, who was sitting in her cozy rocking chair.

“Papa, can you teach me how to tell the time from a clock?” Nikki asked with a big smile.

Her father’s eyes sparkled as he knew it was the perfect opportunity to share this knowledge with Nikki. He motioned Nikki to sit next to him on the rocking chair and began his creative storytelling.

“Imagine the clock as a playground,” Father said, pointing to the clock on the wall. “See the big hand? That long hand is like a little child who wants to go out and play on the playground.”

Nikki’s eyes widened with excitement, imagining the hand as a playful child.

“Now, the small hand,” father continued, “that one is like a parent. It helps the child know when it’s time to go out and play and when it’s time to come back inside for dinner or bedtime.”

Nikki nodded, fascinated by the analogy. She could already picture the hands moving around the clock.

“See the number twelve at the very top?” Father asked. “That’s where the child starts their playtime adventure, just like the morning when you wake up and start your day. As the child keeps playing, the big hand moves slowly, and when it reaches the number six, it’s time for lunch or a little break.”

Nikki’s imagination soared as she visualized the child playing and the hands moving around the clock like magic.

“And when the child finishes playing and it’s time to go home, the big hand will finally reach the number twelve at the top again. That’s when the small hand, the parent, tells the child that it’s time to come inside and rest or have dinner.”

As Nikki listened attentively, she couldn’t wait to try it out herself. She hugged her father tightly and said, “Thank you, Papa! I understand now. It’s like a big game with the hands and numbers!”

Father smiled warmly, knowing he had successfully explained the concept of telling time to his curious daughter.

From that day on, Nikki became the expert clock reader in her house. She would proudly show her friends how to decipher the playful dance of the clock’s hands. All thanks to her wise and imaginative father, Nikki unlocked the secret of telling time on the magical clock playground. And so, her love for learning continued to grow, eager to discover more wonders in the world around her.
